Joseph Larivee (whose surname is Larivée in Québec) is listed in the 1850 US Census for Ferrisburgh. He is referred to as Joseph Larabee Jr on Page 294, Line 24, Household 6, with the following persons listed, respectively, on lines 25 to 27:

  • Lucinda Larabee
  • Ugene Larabee
  • Mary Larabee

Lucinda is Joseph’s wife, Léocadie Quimineur, and the others are their children, Eugene (born in Canada), and Mary Rose (born in Vermont). As per the children’s age, we can presume the family emigrated between 1846 and 1849 to Ferrisburgh. They had at least 9 children, all born in Canada, except for Mary Rose.

Joseph’s brother, Francis, was a neighbor to the Larivees’ in Ferrisburgh in 1850 (household no. 7).

Joseph died in the City of Worcester, Massachusetts, on October 23, 1873. He was fatally injured in a railroad accident:

Life Before Ferrisburgh:This family moved quite a lot. By the baptismal records of their children, they moved to St-Athanase-de-Bleury and St-Jean-sur Richelieu after their marriage in Marieville.
Life After Ferrisburgh:Joseph and his family were back in Marieville by the end of 1851 for a son was baptized there. They seemed to have settled in Farnharm, Québec between 1851 and 1861. In 1870, they were in the City of Worcester in Massachusetts where Joseph died in 1873 from a rail road accident.
