My 2019 French ChallengeAZ in 100 Words—or More | Z for Zachary Richard

I will end up this Challenge by introducing you to, or remind you of, a Louisiana-born singer whose Acadian ancestry crosses mine—another telling illustration of how heartlessly families were separated during the Deportation.

Little did I know that Zachary Richard was a distant cousin. For me, he mostly is a familiar voice heard on the radio since I was a teenager. His background actually symbolizes the perfect example of how some descendants of our Acadian ancestors fought to keep the French language alive. An almost impossible task in the southern United States.

I had a blast doing this Challenge. No doubt, I will enjoy continue to research Philomene’s people—and mine.
