I thought you would be quite impressed by what one is allowed to define as a tight-knit community.

Want to sneak in? Follow me, but try to remain on course as the road may become winding fairly quickly!

It all began with Joseph Goulet for whom commitment was not too much of a challenge as he said Yes three times rather than once.

On May 22, 1797, in the parish of Saint-Henri, of Mascouche, was celebrated the first marriage of Joseph, with Marie Rose Godard dit Lapointe, from which three children were born: Joseph (1798); Marie-Louise, later known as Marie Rose (1799); and a girl who survived only six hours after her birth, on April 24, 1801. Their mother died the next day, at age 22.

Then, on February 1, 1802, in the parish of Saint-Charles of Lachenaie, Joseph walked down the aisle with Marie-Charlotte Huboux dit Tourville, daughter of Louis Tourville and Josephte Robillard. Three children were born from this second alliance: Édouard (1803); Charles (1804), who died 5 months later; and Marie-Charlotte (1806). Their mother passed away in 1810, at age 43, only 8 years after her wedding.

Finally, on August 11, 1812, in Mascouche’s Saint-Henri Parish, putting an end to his widowhood, Joseph tied the knot with Luce Allard. No children were born from this third marriage.

You don’t expect I’m done, do you?

Marie Rose Goulet—Joseph’s daughter born in 1799 from his first union—became the wife of Charles Huboux dit Tourville, son of Charles Sr and Marie Rose Tousignant dit Lusignan in 1819. Charles Sr happens to be the brother of Michel Huboux dit Tourville, who was the husband of Catherine Marié.

Oh! wait! Joseph’s second wife, Marie-Charlotte Huboux, was the first cousin of Charles Sr and Michel, both herein above mentioned.

And let’s not forget Joseph Goulet’s third wife, Luce Allard, thrice married as well (no children from either marriage, though). The icing on the (wedding!) cake: Luce’s last husband was Joseph Tourville, son of Michel Tourville and Catherine Marié.

I think I’ll stop here, I have this splitting headache.
