It was one of those days…

I bet that St. Louis County clerk having fun in the deeds book is the one who put the wrong page number references in the index…

First of all, I discovered that the Calvados Archives have the Saint-Germain de Lisieux records online. Well, that’s not bad news at all and I appreciated finding out about it here because it’s easier to go through an index on a microfilm but I wasn’t prepared for the rest of the day.

No lecture nor consultation for me today so I decided to go through the St. Louis County Records. There were so many Tourvilles in the index, it was overwhelming. Well, that’s not bad news at all but I was a bit discouraged about having to scan all day. I’ll wait after lunch I thought.

This is about the time I realized my water bottle was not tightly closed in my purse. Everything was litterally floating in there. Well, that’s not bad news at all because I found out that the lining of my purse was waterproof. The only thing that didn’t get wet is my phone. Well, you’re lucky or you’re not.

microfilmMy discovery of the day was a St. Louis County contract concerning Pierre Tourville “Sr”, his brother Toussaint and sister-in-law Marie-Reine Calvé. This means that Pierre was still alive in 1829. The last trace I had of him was around 1819. He was calling himself Sr because his nephew was called Peter as well.

Afterwards I found another “Bangle” document! My return to California was not that successful though as I didn’t find the people I was looking for. And a county without land records at the FHL is a big disappointment.

Already five days of research completed on seven and yet as usual I feel I could stay a month and not be done with everything I planned.

No joke, this is like Disney World to me!

By the way, I’ve got to remember to continue to search for that marriage license for John W. and Nina Tourville. I don’t know why but I think the license might have been lost in the Lame Goose Saloon and thus not returned to the County clerk.

Tomorrow, I’m going to help my good friend Diane with her French-Canadian ancestry and afterwards, I will continue to scan early St. Louis County records as well as others I found in Calhoun County, IL.

Hope to find here tomorrow!
